Back in the hospital...Gallbladder

Last weekend Sarah, I and Ron Fernandez did the "Original Mud Run".  We had a great time and finished the course.  The night before the run I woke up with a stabbing pain just below the last rib on my right side.  I did some research and concluded that I had gallstones.  On Monday I had an ultrasound and confirmed my diagnosis.  I intended to schedule surgery for next week for several reasons.  Today however I had another attack and called Samaritan Bariatric to confirm next weeks surgery and mentioned that I was kinda hurting today.  Well kinda went to really hurting a lot to being admitted for surgery.  Surgery in the MORNING, why am I here??  Anyway, here I am.

An update to surgery.  I have lost 154 lbs total and am doing great.

We finished in 3:06

Update and a new pic.---- You won't believe it!!!

Howdy everyone!! Long time no talk.  I am doing well since last time I posted I have lost 11 lbs for a total of 122 lbs. The 42" jeans I put on a while back are fitting great and maybe even a little loose.  Last week I got some 40" shorts from Goodwill.  I love that place. So here are a few recent pics.  I can't believe how much smaller I am.

Still losing...thats a good thing.

Hi peeps!  Its been about 2 weeks since I updated you all.  I have lost another 10 lbs, down to 280 now for a total of 111 lbs.  I started with a 56 inch waist tonight I put on a pair of size 42 jeans, I am making progress.  I had labs done recently and my numbers came back great.  Everything is in the normal range.  I am not on ANY meds except vitamins.

On a different note, something I have been pondering a bit lately. Gen 50:20, Joseph's father had just died.  His brothers came up with another story and begged Joseph to forgive them for all they had done to him.  You see they feared that with dear old dad gone that it would be time for some payback.  Gen 50:20 records Joseph's response "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done".

God is good all the time and has our best interest in mind.

A Child or Several, depending

HAPPY NEW YEAR--Belated

I hope that this post finds you all well, having had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I spent Christmas on call and while I didn't have to work I was still on call, boo.  We had a great Christmas, we spent the day at the Ries' home and had dinner with all the trimmings.  Stefanie did a great job recreating my world famous "mashed potatoes".  We did have a white elephant gift exchange where Ken and several others conspired against me to "freeze" a very cool flashlight before I could snag it.

Sarah and I went crabbing in Newport the Monday after Christmas and ended up with a 1/2 bucket of crab...good eating and full of protein.

We spent New Years in Seattle.  No wonder Seattle is in the top 50 healthiest cities, those people walk everywhere.  We must have walked 200 miles while there.  The amazing thing to me is that I lived to tell about it and didn't even hurt while doing it--WOW.

Big news...I have lost over 100 lbs.  101 to be exact, as of this morning.  I have 81 lbs left to my goal of 210 lbs.

I have lost a whole child or several......

I will post some pics soon.

Huge Milestone Reached!!!!

Hello peeps!!!
Merry Christmas to all.  I hope that during this holiday season that you take the time to celebrate the meaning of Christmas...the birth of Christ.  His birth gave hope to a world separated  from God. As we celebrate His birth I can't help but ponder the Cross.  I can't help but think of the mercy and grace he show a lost and dying world.  His death and resurrection gave victory over death to that same world.  His love for me still amazes me.

Now an update.  This morning I got on the Wii and weighed.  Guess what I was under 300 lbs.  The last time I remember being under 300 lbs was around 2000 and it was only for a few seconds, prior to that would have been in the military in the early 90's right after high school.  This morning I weighed in at 299...WOW. So here are the stats

4/2010  391
10/6/2010, date of surgery 371
10/18/2010, 341
11/22/2010, 321
12/22/2010, 299

I have lost a total of 92 lbs, 72 lbs in 77 days.   I am more than half way to my goal of 210 lbs and just 8 lbs from losing 100 lbs.  At this point I have 23.53% of my total body weight and am feeling great.

My knee is still hurting a bit but is slowly getting better. Not being able to take any type of anti-inflammatory SUCKS.  I have had a cold for the last few days and today nothing settled with my pouch very well.  Nyquil however is THE GOOD STUFF.  About 15 min after taking a dose of Nyquil I can walk sideways pretty good and am ready for bed.  It seems to go straight to my blood stream.

As I said at first, have a Merry Christmas and remember the whole point behind this festive season.

81 lbs GONE...100 lbs from GOAL

Thursday evening I got on the Wii and weighed 310 lbs, Currently I have lost 81 lbs total and 61 lbs since 10/6/2010.  I am exactly 100 lbs from my goal weight of 210 lbs.  Wednesday evening Max and I went on a "walk".  I was feeling great and decided to push it a little so I jogged every other 100 yards...Thursday morning I woke up and could barely walk.  My right knee was protesting my choice, my normal remedy for this type of situation is 4 advil and 4 tylenol and move on.  Post op however I can no longer take advil because it causes ulcers. The bariatric program nurse said that I could crush some advil and take 1 dose and should be ok, not.  That was like pouring liquid fire into my guts, that won't ever happen again.  I went to the doctor yesterday and had a great visit, her scales were the same as mine.  She quote said "You are SOL".  I knew that before I went to see her, I was hoping for some help.  So here I am, my right knee is killing me.  Finally I wrapped it up and have been icing it, that helps a lot, but I need to get back on my bike and back to walking again.

My next goal is to be under 300 on New Years, should be easily do able if my knee gets better.  If my knee doesn't get better I guess I am going to be hurting while walking a lot.
